A Nigerian woman has stirred widespread debate online after posting a 34-second video in which she described the emotional and financial toll of s*x work.
The clip, shared early Monday, has drawn more than 250,000 views, with social media users split between sympathy and criticism.
In the video, the woman, whose identity is unknown, speaks candidly about returning home in the early hours of the morning.
“Prostitution is hard. I’m just going home by 4:31 AM. I keep prostituting myself for capitalism. And to what end?” she says.
She also expressed frustration over her income, suggesting the trade has not delivered the financial stability she expected.
“Ask me how much I’m making now, I’m not proud of it,” she adds, covering her mouth in visible disappointment.
Her remarks quickly triggered reactions across social media.

User @DoyeenOfLagos wrote, “All these girls sound so good but God knows what leads to them to such work. I’m not gonna judge sha but she fine.”
Another user, @I_iknow3, said, “She’s eloquent, I like that. And at least she’s coming to the realization herself, that’s a starting point for her.”
Not all responses were supportive. @jane_nonye commented, “No go find work or hand work do, keep fooling yourself,” urging her to seek alternative employment.
Similarly, @ugo_nwokolo_ questioned, “What happened to shame in our society,” while @dfwBarksdale simply wrote, “respect the audacity.”
Others framed the issue within broader economic struggles. @theonlymikko said, “This really highlights the harsh realities many face just to survive in a capitalist system,” and @hamsem_pr added, “It’s the society and the allure of making ends meet that lured her into this, honestly.”
As the video continues to circulate, it has fueled renewed conversations online about economic hardship, survival choices and personal responsibility in Nigeria.
