The Ogun State Police Command is investigating TikTok user Mirabel (@mirab351) over her viral rape allegation, amid growing claims online that the story may be false.
The case gained attention after Mirabel posted an emotional video alleging she was assaulted on Sunday, February 15, sparking outrage and the hashtag #StopRapingWomen.
Confirming the investigation, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, told newsmen that the Commissioner of Police ordered immediate action after the report surfaced online.
He said the Commissioner directed the DPO of Ibafo Division to urgently reach the victim.
Babaseyi added that Mirabel later reported at the Ibafo Police Station, where preliminary details were collected.
However, police said early findings showed the incident reportedly happened in Ogijo, not Ibafo.
“She was immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation and urgent care,” Babaseyi said.

“Following preliminary treatment, she was subsequently conveyed to the Ogijo Police Station, being the jurisdiction where the incident occurred, for proper documentation and continuation of investigative procedures,” he added.
The police spokesperson said Mirabel was later referred for further medical care due to her condition, while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed it responded after being tagged online. It said the incident occurred in Ogun State and that all relevant information has been forwarded to the Ogun State Police Command for investigation.
The agency said it contacted a close friend of Mirabel, who confirmed she had been discharged from the hospital, adding that all information gathered was forwarded to Ogun authorities.
Mirabel had claimed in her video that an unidentified man forced his way into her apartment, restrained her, and threatened her.
