A large fire broke out on Tuesday at a market in Tehran’s Jannat Abad neighborhood. Thick smoke rose above nearby buildings, visible from far across the city.
Jalal Maleki, spokesman for the Tehran Fire Department, told pressmen, “The fire is so massive that it can be seen from various parts of the city.” Firefighters rushed to the scene to control the blaze.
The market, covering about 2,000 square meters and home to around 200 shops and stalls, was quickly evacuated. Authorities said no injuries or deaths were reported.

Videos shared online show bystanders watching as firefighters worked to contain the flames. Reports of explosions have not been confirmed.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Officials have not said whether it was accidental or deliberate. Residents were advised to stay away while emergency crews worked.
The fire comes amid ongoing nationwide protests. While authorities have not linked the blaze to the unrest, tensions remain high across Iran.
