Nigerian mum throws tantrum, upset nanny teaches daughter how to cook

A video shared by influencer ÓMÒÉLÉRÍNJÁRÉ has caused a stir online after a Nigerian mother complained that her nanny was teaching her daughter to cook.

The clip shows the girl, who looks between 7 and 10 years old, helping the nanny in the kitchen. The girl appears calm and focused. The mother did not speak in the video. She only wrote on the clip that she did not like the idea.

Some people think the mother’s complaint comes from the fact that she pays the nanny to do the work. They argue that the nanny should not involve the child.

Many viewers, however, praised the nanny for teaching the child important skills.

“That explains why she needed a nanny in the first place, she failed.

If my househelp engaged my children this way, she’d get a pay raise.

You should be grateful she’s doing what you were supposed to do: helping raise your child to be responsible in the future.”

Another user, @mr_yatt1, said:

“You can clearly see how happy the little girl is. She’s so eager to learn and the supposed maid is making sure she enjoys all the process by lending her hand whenever she’s not doing it right.”

Some people felt the nanny may be forcing the child to help.

User @Stanleyminded said:

“Now if the daughter was the one who wanted to help the nanny then their is no problem.

But if na say the nanny forced her na where problem they e no good to over do sometimes.”

The video has reopened a debate in Nigeria about whether children should help with household chores, especially in homes with domestic workers.
