Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dismissed reports of tension within the squad following their emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, insisting that the team remains fully focused and united.
Reacting to speculation sparked by on-field gestures between forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, the team’s administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, said there was no disagreement between the players, stressing that the Eagles united no rift narrative reflects the true situation in camp.
According to Dayo Enebi Achor, the team administrator, any misunderstanding inferred from the incident was quickly resolved shortly after the match, adding that the players trained together without issues.
“There is absolutely no problem in the camp. Whatever people thought they saw was addressed within hours. These are brothers playing for the same cause, and everything is fine,” he said, reinforcing that the Eagles united no rift claim remains unchanged.
He also debunked reports that striker Jerome Akor Adams had left the team’s camp, clarifying that the player only received permission to briefly visit his mother, who was hospitalised in Fès, before returning to join his teammates.
On the pitch, Osimhen delivered an outstanding performance, scoring twice to take his tally to 34 goals in 50 appearances for Nigeria, just three shy of the national record held by Rashidi Yekini. Lookman also impressed, adding a goal and three assists to his tournament contributions.
All available players participated in training on Tuesday evening at the Sardienne Complex, with only defender Ryan Alebiosu continuing his recovery programme. Team officials said the atmosphere remains positive as preparations intensify for the quarter-final clash.
The Super Eagles are expected to move to Marrakech on Thursday ahead of their last-eight encounter against either Algeria or DR Congo on Saturday. With confidence high and focus intact, team officials insist the Eagles united no rift stance accurately captures the spirit within the camp.
