Dangote Refinery has confirmed its commitment to supplying 50 million litres of petrol daily from December, in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s domestic fuel security.
The refinery plans to increase the volume to 57 million litres per day from February 2026, ensuring a steady and reliable Nigeria fuel supply for the country.
The pledge, contained in a letter from Dangote Refinery’s Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), highlights the company’s readiness to meet domestic Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) demand.
Bird urged regulators to deploy officials onsite starting December 1 to verify and publicly share daily production and stock levels for full transparency.

Bird also requested support for seamless clearance of crude oil, feedstocks, and blending components, noting that delays in vessel operations are affecting refinery efficiency and increasing costs for consumers.
“We are writing to confirm our commitment to supply Nigerian domestic PMS requirements. Dangote Refinery is ready and able to supply 1.5 billion litres per month (50 million litres/day) from December and January, followed by 1.7 billion litres per month (57 million litres/day) from February 2026 onwards,” Bird said.
The refinery’s plan aligns with the Federal Government’s strategy to boost local production capacity and reduce reliance on imported petrol, addressing persistent challenges in the downstream sector
