Power pass power: EFCC nabs native doctor, returns crime proceeds to victim

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered and returned multimillion-naira assets belonging to a fraud victim, Mr. Daniel Babatunde Attiogbe, after nabbing a self-acclaimed native doctor who defrauded him in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the assets were handed over to the victim on Tuesday by the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, through the Acting Zonal Director of the Ibadan Office, Assistant Commander Hauwa Garba Ringim.

The recovery followed the conviction of one Fatai Olalere Alli, popularly known as Baba Abore or Baba Osun, who was found guilty of advance fee fraud after posing as a spiritualist to dupe Attiogbe. The recovered items include three buildings, two vehicles, and ₦1.1 million in cash.

According to the EFCC, the restitution was carried out in compliance with a court order. Olukoyede reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparency and the rule of law.
