Tension has enveloped Benin City, Edo State, after angry residents stormed the residence of a woman accused of allegedly poisoning her stepdaughter, identified as Sarah Agahowa, shortly after the young girl secured admission to study Nursing.
According to reports circulating on social media, the woman allegedly poisoned Sarah out of jealousy after discovering that she had gained admission into the Nursing programme at the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor.
Viral videos from the scene captured a large crowd of community members and relatives confronting the accused woman, who appeared visibly frightened as the mob demanded justice for the deceased. Despite pleas from some elders urging calm, the crowd repeatedly chanted, “Justice for Sarah!”
The tragic development has sparked widespread outrage online, with many Nigerians condemning the rising incidents of domestic jealousy and family-related violence.
One social media user, identified as Eunice, wrote:

“How can a woman hate her husband’s child to the point of taking her life? This kind of wickedness is beyond understanding.”
Another commenter, Akinmoyo, called for swift police action, saying:
“This is heartbreaking. The authorities must ensure a proper investigation. If she’s guilty, she deserves to face the law.”
As of press time, authorities have yet to release an official statement on the alleged poisoning, but residents continue to demand that justice be served in what they describe as a senseless and cruel act.
