The Lagos State Government on Thursday demolished illegal structures obstructing the Jebba/Kano collector in Ebute Metta to improve stormwater flow and curb flooding.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the move via his official X handle, sharing footage of enforcement teams breaking down concrete blocks and cutting metal barriers blocking the drainage.
He noted that beyond the current clearance, the government plans medium- to long-term measures, including pumped drainage cells in low-lying areas, updated building codes for on-site water retention, and restoration of critical wetlands.
