The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old man, Emmanuel George, for allegedly defiling a minor, a12-year-old girl in Port Harcourt.
The incident happened on September 6 at Mini Orlu, off Ada-George Road. The victim, who was on holiday with her aunt, was said to be returning from an errand when the suspect lured her into a stationary tricycle (Keke Napep).
Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the suspect tied the girl’s hands, covered her mouth, and assaulted her inside the tricycle before running away.

According to her, a distress call was made to the police and the child was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment. Later that night, at about 10 pm, operatives of the CP Strike Force tracked and arrested George.
Items recovered from the scene include a rope allegedly used to tie the victim, a wrap of fufu, and the tricycle.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and is in custody as investigations continue,” Iringe-Koko confirmed.
Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, condemned the act and assured that justice will be served. He also urged parents and guardians to watch their children closely against predators lurking in communities.
