Stop praying for long life, focus on living well — Korede Bello

Popular Nigerian singer Korede Bello has urged his fans to prioritise living meaningfully over simply praying for a long life.

In a new episode of his Wellness Wednesday series, the “Godwin” crooner reflected on how people often worry about the number of years they will live, overlooking the importance of the quality of their impact.

“It’s not enough to live long. What matters is you live well. The cells in our bodies, the neurons in our brains, the organs — everything is keeping us alive long enough for us to do something good, to contribute to the ecosystem of life,” he said.

Bello highlighted historical figures who left lasting legacies despite short lives, citing Alexander the Great, who died at 32, and Jesus Christ, whose influence endures centuries later.

He encouraged fans to view wellness not as an end, but as a tool to fulfil their purpose. “Be well so that you can be alive and do that thing you’re here to do. Leave the room better than you met it,” Bello added.

Signing off, he reminded fans that greatness is measured by contribution, not longevity. “Happy Wellness Wednesday. Be well and be great,” he concluded.
