Nigeria has been thrown into another nationwide blackout as the national grid collapsed on Wednesday morning.
The X official handle of the National Grid announced that the system failure occurred around 11:54 a.m. on September 10, 2025.
The update showed that only the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IbadanDisco) had 20MW supply, while all other Discos were on 0MW.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) also confirmed the grid collapse in a notice to its customers, stating that the outage began at about 11:23 a.m.

This fresh collapse has once again sparked outrage among Nigerians who continue to suffer from poor power supply. In 2024 alone, the country witnessed at least 12 national grid collapses.
So far in 2025, there have been at least two partial blackouts despite repeated assurances from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) that the grid has been stable.
Back in April, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu claimed that the grid was becoming more reliable following the injection of 700 megawatts under the Siemens-backed Presidential Power Initiative, with 90% of the equipment including transformers and substations already installed.
