Apple has officially launched the new iPhone 17 lineup at its highly anticipated “Awe Dropping” event on Tuesday, Sept. 8, introducing fresh designs, powerful chips, and upgraded features.
One of the most notable shifts is the replacement of the mid-tier Plus model with the iPhone 17 Air, which Apple describes as its thinnest iPhone yet. Measuring just 5.6 millimeters thick and weighing 165 grams, the Air features a 6.6-inch ProMotion display housed in a titanium-aluminum frame and enhanced with Ceramic Shield 2 for durability. It runs on the A19 Pro chip, paired with a C1X modem and 12 GB of RAM, promising smooth performance and all-day battery life.
Across the lineup, Apple has introduced wireless MagSafe charging and longer-lasting batteries.
The iPhone 17’s ProMotion display now supports an always-on mode, while its upgraded camera system includes a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 12-megapixel macro option.
A redesigned square front sensor enables more flexible selfie orientations.

The premium iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models come with a bold redesign, featuring a camera bar that spans the phone’s width.
The 48-megapixel telephoto lens delivers up to 8× optical zoom and 8K video recording, supported by an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip for faster connectivity. These models also boast brighter displays and up to 39 hours of video playback.
Pricing starts at $799 for the iPhone 17, $999 for the Air, $1,099 for the Pro, and $1,199 for the Pro Max. Color options include black, white, steel gray, light blue, green, and purple for the base models; black, white, light gold, and sky blue for the Air; and blue, orange, and silver for the Pro series.
Pre-orders open Friday, Sept. 12, with the official launch set for Friday, Sept. 19. Tech enthusiasts can expect the new devices to hit shelves worldwide shortly after.
With thinner builds, stronger chips, and expanded camera systems, Apple’s new iPhone 17 series continues the brand’s push to redefine what a smartphone can do.
