Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, is a well-known Afro beats sensation who received a royal plaque from Benin’s Oba, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Oku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II.
Rema received the plaque from the Oba on Thursday during the singer’s visit to his palace before his homecoming performance at Benin City’s Ogbe Stadium.
Rema was present at the Edo Arena groundbreaking event on Wednesday together with Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State.
In honor of the artist, the governor declared that the 6,000-seat arena would now be known as Rema Dome.
The superstar, who was born in Edo City, has proudly represented Edo State as an ambassador, using his songs and live performances to promote the region and the tradition of the erstwhile Benin Empire.
