Kwara Cleric seeks help as his wife gives birth to 11 babies
Yahya Nafiu, a 56-year-old Islamic cleric and a native of Ilorin, Kwara state, has made the astonishing claim that “my spouse gave birth to eleven children.” This is a remarkable occurrence, and one that will likely draw significant attention.
“My wife Latoyossi Alake, an Ajasse-Cotonou native, gave birth to the eleven children between July 7 and August 14, 2024, in a traditional Porto-Novo home.” as Yahya stated.
This is a truly extraordinary event, and one that will likely be the subject of much discussion.
Sadly, two of the eleven children did not survive birth, leaving nine alive. This is a tragic reminder of the risks and challenges associated with childbirth, particularly in cases where medical care may be limited.
In a phone conversation on Wednesday, Yahya revealed that “the babies were delivered in two different months, on July 7 and August 14, at a traditional birth attendant home in Porto-Novo.” This is a remarkable story, and one that highlights the importance of access to quality medical care.
“One other major challenge that we are now facing before we could bring the children home to Ilorin to show them to my parents is how to raise money for the marriage rites, as well as medical bill and police report,” he stated
In response to this extraordinary situation, Yahya has issued a call for assistance from the federal, state, and private sectors. This is a reasonable request, given the extraordinary nature of the situation.
Fortunately, others have come forward to verify the story, including Azakariyau Nafiu, the father’s older brother, and Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, who confirmed that the father of the children is from Onikeke Compound in the Popo Giwa neighborhood of Ilorin.
This helps to lend credibility to the extraordinary claim.
