Strike: Planned FG’s Meeting With Varsity Lecturers Postponed
“Hope Deferred: University Students’ Future Hangs in the Balance as FG-ASUU Meeting Put on Hold”
The indefinite postponement of the meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has left university students and stakeholders in a state of uncertainty.
“We are disappointed but not surprised,” said ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke. “The government has consistently demonstrated a lack of commitment to resolving this crisis. Our strike action will continue until our demands are met.”
According to a source close to the negotiations, “the government’s inability to meet ASUU’s demands has led to a stalemate. We were expecting a breakthrough, but it seems we’re back to square one.”
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, attributed the postponement to “unforeseen circumstances” and assured that “the government is committed to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.”
As the strike enters its seventh month, students are growing increasingly frustrated. “We’re tired of being at home,” said NANS President, Sunday Asefon. “We urge the government to take concrete steps to resolve this crisis and save our academic future.”
The postponement has raised concerns about the government’s willingness to address the issues driving the strike, leaving students and lecturers wondering when the impasse will be resolved.
