The Academic Staff Union of Universities’ University of Calabar branch reported that ten of its academic staff members have passed away since the union’s strike on February 14, 2022.
Dr. John Edor, the chairman of the ASUU UNICAL Branch, stated this on September 29.
Edor revealed their identities and the courses they taught, but he would not say what caused their deaths.
Prof. E. O. Udosen, Professor of Biochemistry; Dr. Mrs. Iquo Takon, Professor of Microbiology; Prof. G. U. Ntamu, Professor of Religious and Cultural Studies; Prof. Mrs. Judith Otu, Professor of Sociology; Prof. Victor Ibianwu, Professor of Physics; Prof. Offiong Abia, Professor of History and International Studies; Prof. Catherine Agbor, Professor of Arts Education; Dr. Augustine Bassey.
