The Garki General Hospital, Abuja, has debunked news reports making the rounds that it denied a female corps member, Linda Angela Igwetu, treatment after being shot by a police officer, Wednesday night in Abuja.
The hospital’s medical director, Essen Nyomudim, in a Press release on Thursday, described the allegations as false and malicious.
Nyomudim said the corps member was brought in a critical condition, adding that the accident and emergency team tried their best to save her life.

“To set the records straight, Miss Igwetu was brought to our hospital at about 3.40am on 4th July 2018 in a very precarious condition. The doctors on duty at the Accident and Emergency unit, including the consultant surgeon on call, battled to provide necessary care to save her life including blood transfusions and limited surgery.
“This was done without payment. Unfortunately, she died despite all efforts to save her life.
“The purported reports on the mainstream and social media were all pushed out without any recourse to verification from Garki Hospital.
“Garki Hospital DEMANDS immediate rebuttal of all such reports from all mainstream and social media WITHIN 48 HOURS as well as published APOLOGY to Garki Hospital for misinforming the public and publishing MALICIOUS GOSSIP.
“Failure to publish the required rebuttals and apology would compel Garki Hospital to take legal actions against such media houses.
“We also encourage the media to always take a step further by confirming the information they are fed with before broadcasting it to the general public.
“Be reassured, the management and staff of Garki Hospital Abuja are very committed to our singular duty: Saving Lives.”
