There will always be some new beauty or body trend on what’s hot, or what’s not. The idea of beauty is constantly evolving, and a lot of the things that people used to see as flaws or shortcomings are now the very definition of beauty. Supermodels today are walking around with those same features that you got bullied for in middle school! Here are the top so-called flaws once seen as disadvantages that, in 2018, make you stand out from the crowd in a gorgeous way and beautiful.
1. Freckles
Anyone with freckles has probably faced some insecurity in their lives, but we think they’re a really cool and exotic feature, whether they’re just dotting your face, or all over your body? Think of yourself like a slinky, sexy leopard with a skin like no other. They might not have always been the trademark for fabulous, but today they are beautiful for it!
2. Plus Size
Anyone looking at the pages of Sports Illustrated and seeing Ashley Graham on the cover can clearly see that today, plus size now is accepted as beautiful. Instead of trying to lose a ton of weight to mimic stick-thin runway models, people are now desperately trying to attain those curves that society once shunned. Even on the runway, models are getting thicker!

3. Birthmarks, Vitiligo
Unusual birthmarks and skin conditions such as Vitiligo are tough to come to terms with, and often hinder seeing the reality of your true beauty. ANTM’s past contestant Winnie Harlow, a gorgeous butterfly of a human being, is definitive proof of that. Think of it this way: you have naturally stunning makeup built into your skin – why cover this beautiful nature up?
4. Big, Curly Hair
Curly and unruly hair was once shunned (apart from a Jane Fonda style blowout or feathering). But thick and wild curly locks were constantly being tamed by damaging straighteners and products which hid your original radiance. Now, people are buying wigs and weaves jut to imitate those big, bold curls. So put down the straightening iron, and you’ll be surprised by the compliments you receive.
5. Gap Tooth
Having a gap tooth, you feel like an oddball out. When I was younger, I had one and can attest to that. But at the same time, models with global success have a gap tooth, and it’s regarded by many as the ultimate “cute” factor on a girl. Take Georgia May Jagger and ex-supermodel Lauren Hutton, for instance. Brands tried to cover up Lauren’s lovely gap, but ultimately her fans missed it. This look adds a sense of innocence and sweetness to your face!
6. Muscular Legs
If you were a girl with muscular legs back in the day, you might have been wrongfully called “manly” or “fat”. But strong legs are gorgeous, and in a pair of heels, some stick thin ones definitely can’t compete! The ultimate look of 2018 is the athletic body, and if you have that naturally built in, kudos to you! Lots of women have to spend hours in the gym to attain even half of that look.
7. Big Booties
On a similar note of “bigger is better” nowadays, big booties used to get a lot of flack. You’d see a lot of girls with pancake behinds on the runways, and even in swimsuit shoots. But luckily stars like the Kardashians changed that, and made women realize that if they have a huge booty, it only adds to your beauty! Sir Mix-a-Lot was the original feminist champ.
8. Little Chest
Girls with flatter chests or that were late bloomers were often ridiculed in high school. But a lot of models and famous celebrities that are renowned for their appearances are flat-chested, or prettily petite, as we prefer to put it.
9. Beauty Spots, Moles
If you have beauty spots or moles that you’re constantly covering up with concealer, let those babies free! Cindy Crawford had a beauty spot, and she’s the literal definition of a goddess, so you shouldn’t be scared if you have a couple that are unsymmetrical or popping up in unexpected places. They’re basically just endearing lone freckles, and we’re obsessed with them.
