The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a landmark initiative to mark its 35th anniversary, offering 3,500 free business name registrations to small businesses across Nigeria. The announcement was made during the official opening ceremony of the CAC@35 celebrations in Abuja.
At the event, CAC Registrar-General and CEO, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, unveiled the commission’s newly redesigned website, which now features an AI Lawyer Assistant and an AI Name Generator. These tools are designed to simplify business registration processes and improve access to information for entrepreneurs and stakeholders.
The AI Lawyer Assistant enables users to ask questions about CAC laws, procedures, guidelines, and operations and receive instant, accurate responses. Meanwhile, the AI Name Generator allows business owners to create and reserve scalable business names directly from the platform with speed and convenience.
Speaking at the ceremony, Magaji emphasized the significance of the free business name registrations, stating that the 3,500 slots will be distributed across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide.
Other initiatives announced as part of the CAC@35 celebrations include scholarships for six top corporate law students from each of the six campuses of the Nigerian Law School for 2026, the donation of 120 mattresses to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, a commemorative staff bonus of 25% of one month’s gross salary, as well as special housing and car loans for staff.
The anniversary event was attended by top government officials, business leaders, and former Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda.
The CAC’s new website and AI-powered features aim to deepen ease of doing business in Nigeria, enhance transparency, and provide entrepreneurs with faster access to essential corporate services.
