A 25-year-old man was detained by the Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday, August 18, for reportedly killing two of his children, aged 3 and 5, in the Himikidu community of the Michika Local Government Area.
The victims were allegedly slain by the suspect, Elisha Tari, a resident of Himikidu in the Michika Local Government Area, who repeatedly struck them on the head with stones and sticks. The grandpa of the victims reported the event to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Michika.

According to preliminary investigation, the victim’s mother and the suspect split up two months ago as a result of a miscommunication. The suspect is currently being questioned by police to find out why his children were killed after being apprehended as he tried to flee to the Cameroon.
The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and said that state Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, had expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident and had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police CID to take charge of the investigation and ensure the suspect’s prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
