2027 election: Kogi youths raise N100m to buy nomination form for Tinubu

A group of youths from Kogi State has raised N100 million to purchase the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The N100 million dummy cheque was presented to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, in Abuja on Monday.

Although the President has not formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 election, party leaders and supporters believe he will seek a second term. Several party organs, including the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, zonal leadership and the Governors’ Forum, have already declared support for him.

Speaking while displaying the cheque, the APC National Chairman described the gesture as one of the happiest moments for the party, noting that it showed growing youth participation in politics.

He said the action proved that young people were no longer waiting for what government could give them but were instead contributing to the political process. He added that the youths raised the funds based on what they described as improvements in the economy and security situation in their state.

According to him, the youths also cited the deployment of security forces to tackle insecurity in parts of Kogi State, as well as federal appointments given to indigenes of the state. They further praised the performance of the state government in infrastructure, agriculture and youth empowerment.

He explained that the donation was made to purchase both the nomination and expression of interest forms for the President, stressing that the money had already been paid into the party’s account.

“This is not a promise or pledge; the money has been fully paid,” he said, adding that the group was the second to make such a commitment, but the first to complete payment.

The chairman stated that the action should serve as an example to other youths across the country, noting that young people were now being recognised as leaders of today rather than tomorrow.

Also speaking, Governor Ododo thanked God for what he described as good leadership at the national level, saying that the current administration had created opportunities for young people to participate actively in governance.

He said he was personally a beneficiary of youth inclusion policies and urged Nigerian youths to continue supporting leadership they believed in.

With the development, party officials said the move further demonstrated early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.

The donation, they said, showed that Kogi youths raise N100m for Tinubu nomination form as part of their effort to demonstrate loyalty and support for the President’s leadership and reforms.

Party leaders believe the gesture signals growing confidence among young supporters, especially as Kogi youths raise N100m for Tinubu nomination form to strengthen early preparations for the next election.

Observers say the action underscores increasing youth involvement in political funding, as Kogi youths raise N100m for Tinubu nomination form without waiting for official campaign declarations.
