Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has dismissed claims that he is new to the African Democratic Party (ADC), insisting that he is a bona fide member of the coalition party.
Obi made the clarification on Sunday during an X Space interactive session with Nigerians, amid speculations questioning his membership and role within the ADC.
According to the former Anambra State governor, he has been part of the ADC since its formation and has consistently supported the party over the years.
He recalled his active involvement in the party’s activities, including openly campaigning for and endorsing Dr Mo during the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Obi stressed that his participation in the ADC-led coalition ahead of the 2027 general election is not driven by personal ambition or a desire for power, but by a genuine commitment to national development.
“I am not in this coalition to grab power. I am here because I want to make Nigeria work,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to remain focused on building a credible political alternative based on competence, accountability and service, and to ignore misinformation and partisan distractions.
