Global Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially announced his transition into active party politics by joining the Accord Party.
The move is a significant show of support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently adopted the party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Taking to his official handle on X on Tuesday, the ‘Unavailable’ crooner informed his millions of followers that he would be in Osogbo on Wednesday to formally pick up his membership card.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my Accord Party membership card at Imole House Osogbo tomorrow… see you soon accordingly,” the singer posted, signaling his readiness to mobilize his massive influence for the new political movement.
Davido’s entry into the Accord Party comes just two weeks after Governor Ademola Adeleke sent shockwaves through the political landscape by unveiling the party as his vehicle for a second term.
The Governor had made the formal declaration at the Government House Banquet Hall, revealing that his decision to defect followed weeks of intensive consultations with stakeholders, opinion leaders, and residents of the state.
Explaining his choice, Governor Adeleke stated that his official membership began on November 6, driven by a desire to sustain his administration’s “Imole” agenda of good governance.
He emphasized that the Accord Party’s core philosophy of welfarism perfectly aligns with his administration’s focus on the well-being of workers and citizens.
According to the Governor, the party provides the most inclusive platform to protect the democratic dividends his administration has delivered since 2022.
The formal alignment of the Adeleke family with the Accord Party marks a strategic shift in Osun State’s political dynamics. By joining forces on this new platform, both the Governor and his world-renowned nephew are positioning the party as the primary contender to retain the government house in August 2026.
The Governor has already expressed total confidence in the party’s mission, welcoming national and state leaders into the fold while calling for a united front to ensure a landslide victory in the upcoming polls.
