15-year-old, Agbo Adoga, becomes first Nigerian to hit perfect SAT score of 1600

A 15-year-old Nigerian student, Agbo Adoga, has reportedly become the first Nigerian to achieve a perfect score of 1600 on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).

Adoga, a student of Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, is said to have recorded the highest possible SAT score — 800 in Mathematics and 800 in Reading and Writing. The feat, if confirmed by the College Board, places him among an elite group of students globally who have attained perfection on the standardized test.

The news surfaced online after an X (formerly Twitter) user, @winexviv, announced the achievement on the Elon Musk-owned platform.

“I have a very good news for Nigeria. This boy, Agbo Adoga from Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, just scored a perfect SAT score of 1600. He is the first ever in Nigeria to achieve this,” the user wrote.

Beyond this latest milestone, Adoga reportedly boasts more than 80 academic and competition-based achievements. He has distinguished himself in mathematics and science contests, both nationally and internationally.

Among his accomplishments is winning the Cowbellpedia Junior Season 2 in 2023, a mathematics competition hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Following the viral post, Nigerians on social media platforms such as X and Facebook have flooded timelines with congratulatory messages, celebrating Adoga’s remarkable performance.

However, some users also expressed concern that exceptional young talents like Adoga often go unrecognized or underutilized in Nigeria, citing poor governance and lack of institutional support as recurring challenges.

Agbo Adoga’s achievement stands as a testament to the depth of talent within Nigeria and a reminder that excellence can emerge from any corner of the country.
